1 Samuel

Chapter 29

1 Now the Philistines6430 gathered together6908 853 all3605 their armies4264 to Aphek:663 and the Israelites3478 pitched2583 by a fountain5869 which834 is in Jezreel.3157

2 And the lords5633 of the Philistines6430 passed on5674 by hundreds,3967 and by thousands:505 but David1732 and his men376 passed on5674 in the rearward314 with5973 Achish.397

3 Then said559 the princes8269 of the Philistines,6430 What4100 do these428 Hebrews5680 here? And Achish397 said559 unto413 the princes8269 of the Philistines,6430 Is not3808 this2088 David,1732 the servant5650 of Saul7586 the king4428 of Israel,3478 which834 hath been1961 with854 me these2088 days,3117 or176 these2088 years,8141 and I have found4672 no3808 fault3972 in him since4480 3117 he fell5307 unto me unto5704 this2088 day?3117

4 And the princes8269 of the Philistines6430 were wroth7107 with5973 him; and the princes8269 of the Philistines6430 said559 unto him, Make this fellow return,7725 853 376 that he may go again7725 to413 his place4725 which834 8033 thou hast appointed6485 him, and let him not3808 go down3381 with5973 us to battle,4421 lest3808 in the battle4421 he be1961 an adversary7854 to us: for wherewith4100 should he reconcile7521 himself2088 unto413 his master?113 should it not3808 be with the heads7218 of these1992 men?376

5 Is not3808 this2088 David,1732 of whom834 they sang6030 one to another in dances,4246 saying,559 Saul7586 slew5221 his thousands,505 and David1732 his ten thousands?7233

6 Then Achish397 called7121 413 David,1732 and said559 unto413 him, Surely, as the LORD3068 liveth,2416 thou859 hast been upright,3477 and thy going out3318 and thy coming in935 with854 me in the host4264 is good2896 in my sight:5869 for3588 I have not3808 found4672 evil7451 in thee since the day4480 3117 of thy coming935 unto413 me unto5704 this2088 day:3117 nevertheless the lords5869 5633 favor2896 thee859 not.3808

7 Wherefore now6258 return,7725 and go1980 in peace,7965 that thou displease6213 7451 5869 not3808 the lords5633 of the Philistines.6430

8 And David1732 said559 unto413 Achish,397 But3588 what4100 have I done?6213 and what4100 hast thou found4672 in thy servant5650 so long4480 3117 as834 I have been1961 with6440 thee unto5704 this2088 day,3117 that3588 I may not3808 go1980 fight3898 against the enemies341 of my lord113 the king?4428

9 And Achish397 answered6030 and said559 to413 David,1732 I know3045 that3588 thou859 art good2896 in my sight,5869 as an angel4397 of God:430 notwithstanding389 the princes8269 of the Philistines6430 have said,559 He shall not3808 go up5927 with5973 us to the battle.4421

10 Wherefore now6258 rise up early7925 in the morning1242 with thy master's113 servants5650 that834 are come935 with854 thee: and as soon as ye be up early7925 in the morning,1242 and have light,216 depart.1980

11 So David1732 and his men376 rose up early7925 to depart1980 in the morning,1242 to return7725 into413 the land776 of the Philistines.6430 And the Philistines6430 went up5927 to Jezreel.3157

2 非利士人的首領各率軍隊，按百或按千前進［passed on by hundreds, and by thousands］；大衛和跟隨他的人同著亞吉跟在後邊。

3 非利士人的首領說：「這些希伯來人在這裏作甚麼呢？」亞吉對他們說：「這不是以色列王掃羅的臣子大衛嗎？他在我這裏有些年日了。自從他投降我直到今日，我未曾見他有過錯。」

4 非利士人的首領向亞吉發怒，對他說：「你要叫這人回你所安置他的地方，不可叫他同我們出戰，恐怕他在陣上反為我們的敵人。他用甚麼與他主人復和呢？豈不是用我們這些人的首級嗎？

5 從前以色列的婦女跳舞唱和說：『掃羅殺死數千［thousands］，大衛殺死數萬［ten thousands］』，所說的不是這個大衛嗎？」

6 亞吉叫大衛來，對他說：「我指著永生的耶和華起誓，你是正直人。你隨我在軍中出入，我看你甚好。自從你投奔我到如今，我未曾見你有甚麼過失；只是眾首領不喜悅你。

7 現在你可以平平安安地回去，免得非利士人的首領不歡喜你。」

8 大衛對亞吉說：「我作了甚麼呢？自從你［thy］僕人到你面前，直到今日，你查出我有甚麼過錯，使我不去攻擊我主我王［my lord the king］的仇敵呢？」

9 亞吉說：「我知道你在我眼前是好人，如同神的天使［angel］一般；只是非利士人的首領說：『這人不可同我們出戰。』

10 故此，現在［now］你和跟隨你的人，就是你本主的僕人，在［in］明日早晨要從早［early］起來；你們從早起來，等天一亮，就［as soon as ye be up early in the morning, and have light］回去吧。」

11 於是大衛和跟隨他的人早晨起來，回往非利士地去。非利士人也上耶斯列去了。

10 Wherefore now6258 rise up early7925 in the morning1242 with thy master's113 servants5650 that834 are come935 with854 thee: and as soon as ye be up early7925 in the morning,1242 and have light,216 depart.1980

10 故此，現在［now］你和跟隨你的人，就是你本主的僕人，在［in］明日早晨要從早［early］起來；你們從早起來，等天一亮，就［as soon as ye be up early in the morning, and have light］回去吧。」

11 So David1732 and his men376 rose up early7925 to depart1980 in the morning,1242 to return7725 into413 the land776 of the Philistines.6430 And the Philistines6430 went up5927 to Jezreel.3157

11 於是大衛和跟隨他的人早晨起來，回往非利士地去。非利士人也上耶斯列去了。
